Re: Expand/Collapse always collapsing.

I am having the same problems.  I would be happy to give someone at DotNetNuke account privileges and let them see what is going on.  I can email my host user and password but I won't put it on this board.

Here was what I posted somewhere else on the DotNetNuke forum.

I am having trouble with advanced and other features.  For instance, when I go to page settings and then click the + next to Advanced Settings to expand it then it stays expanded for a like 3 seconds and then collapse and again before I can make any changes.  It seems when mike double click on the plus then a it expands and then collapses and then after a like 4 seconds and then expands so I can set something.  It also does this in some modules, but does not expand with the double click thing.  What in the world could cause DotNetNuke to do this?  Please say I don't have to start over.  Please someone help.

I really need help as my site grand opening is the 4th of July and I need to make some settings changes.

Tim

Re: Expand/Collapse always collapsing.

Hi Jon,

My website is experiencing the same issue as highlighted in the previous strings.  The issue can be replicated by clicking on the following link and entering the username and password supplied below.

Username: trialuser
Password:   templogin

This will give you editing access to a temporary page on my website called Trial Page. (You will only be able to view the other pages on my website.)

Once logged into the Trial Page, rest your cursor over the down arrow next to the words "Enter Title" - near the middle of the page - and select "Settings" from the drop down list. At the bottom of the page there are two options "Page Settings" and "Advanced Settings". As described in previous strings neither setting can be expanded.

This happens on my work computer (running Windows XP SP2, IE7) and on my home computer (running Windows Vista, IE7).   On a third computer (running Windows XP SP2, IE7) the expand function works perfectly.

This issue appeared about 2 – 3 weeks ago and coincided with a McAfee update. Interestingly the third computer mentioned above isn’t running McAfee.

I did a System Restore on my computer to a date in early May 2008. Once the System Restore is done McAfee starts immediately downloading the automatic updates so that it is running the most current update.  This downloading / updating process takes about 5 minutes and during this time the expand function on the website works just fine. Once McAfee is all up-to-date the expand function stops working again.

I’ve written to McAfee to see what they think and am awaiting a reply.

Hi,Re: Expand/Collapse always collapsing.

Hi,

I verified that on my installation it is sufficient to disable the the McAfee Phishing Filter : IE menu Tools -> Manage Add-ons -> Enable/Disable Add-ons ) to cure the problem.

Bye

Alessandro

Re: Hi,Re: Expand/Collapse always collapsing.

Is there anyone in this thread that has the problem that does not have this McAfee Phishing Filter add on?

If I wanted to get this add-on, what is the easiest way to get it?  Does it come with the full-blown McAfee virus product, or can I just get that part?

Re: Hi,Re: Expand/Collapse always collapsing.

I have the problem, but I don't think I have the McAfee Phishing Filter.  From what I've read, this appears to be related to that bug in an IE update (both 6 and 7) that stopped the "return false" from working properly in the hyperlink oncick.  I don't know much else, but it did steal a few hours from my life in a different situation outside of DNN.

Here's how I fixed it:

Changed this:    onclick="if (__dnn_ContainerMaxMin_OnClick(this, 'dnn_ctr397_ModuleContent')) return false;"

To this:    onclick="if (__dnn_ContainerMaxMin_OnClick(this, 'dnn_ctr397_ModuleContent')) {event.returnValue = false; return false;}"

I'm not sure if this works in all browsers and haven't yet done much testing.  There are other solutions out there as well.  Search for "ie return false".
