English/French website

Hello All,

I am very new to dotnetnuke (as of this morning), and was wondering if anyone could direct me to any resources that have very easy to follow guides on how to allow a site to flip between English and French. We already have a website (www.org-matters.com) that is up and running (created using DNN 3.2.2) but we now need to setup a French version of the same site as well. Is there a way to accomplish this by putting a language toggle switch on the main english page that could redirect to the required French content?

I would greatly appreciate any assistance or direction that anyone could provide. Please email me at sssrai@hotmail.com if any further information is required.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Sunny

Re: English/French website

to create a DotNetNuke site, that is truely multilingual, you currently need 3rd party solutions, e.g. from www.apollo-software.nl or dnn.tiendaboliviana.com and modules from those developers or www.dotnetnuke.dk or www.portalfabrik.net

Re: English/French website

Look for modules supporting multilingual DNN installations:

  • Locopon provides MMLocalization and MMLinks modules
  • Apollo provides PageLocalization, MLHTML, MLAnnouncements, MLAdvAnnouncements and MLSurveyModules
  • dotnetnuke.dk provides MultiHTML
  • Portalfabrik provides MagicContent, MagicNews and MagicLinks

Re: English/French website

Hello,

I know it isn't good form to ask about third-party solutions on the dnn site but since you listed them perhaps someone could answer a question about Apollo for me.

Is the Apollo site still active? I tried to register on the Apollo site a couple of times last week so I could ask questions about the application but never received an email with a verification code. I also tried using the Contact option but never received a response.

I also noticed that when I went to the downloads page the only active link was to the language packs on the dnn site. Perhaps I need to be registered to access and download the free modules (such as MLHTML and ModuleLocalization) but as I seem to be unable to register I cannot know for sure. If anyone can confirm the status of this site, it would be much appreciated.

Please don't take this as a swipe against Apollo. From what I have read on this forum, it sounds like it will provide the functions I need to add localization to my site. I'm just having difficulty getting the modules I need.

Thanks.
