Sorting multi lingual data in Business layer

Hi All,

We are building a multi lingual site using VS 2005; for the database, we are using nvarchar columns to store data in multiple languages. We need to sort this data in an alphabetical order which is language specific. We had explored the probability of sorting from the DB end but found that the use of collates is not universally accepted. So finally we have settled for sorting to be done in the Business layer. Our BL deals mainly with arraylists and datasets; so i wanted to know the best possible way to sort the multi lingual data in this layer.
I went through some documents and cames across the SortKey.Compare() method which is used alongwith the CultureInfo class. A simple trial and error experiment resulted in the proper sorted order using the arraylist.Sort() method.
Can someone throw light as to which approach is safer than the other?

Thanx in advance
