GB language to appear NOT in caps?
Hi, I've installed the GB language pack as detailed on this forum, but now everything is in capitals (CAPS) Is there a way to switch this back to normal? Thanks.

Re: GB language to appear NOT in caps?

can you please check out the files in the language packs, whether all texts are contained in CAPS, in this case, use a different lang pack. In the other case, check out the CSS styles applied, which might include a capitalize setting.

Re: GB language to appear NOT in caps?

Hello digitdemon,

If you have downloaded your language pack from www.DNNEnglish.com or a DNNEnglish Free Language Pack from the "Resources - Language Pack" here at DotNetNuke.com, then it may be a Free version which is, in fact, ALL CAPS.

You see, DNNEnglish offers Language Packs for 13 Localizations (for 13 different countries), and with the following options:

Capitalization Criteria. There are three variants for this issue:
  1. Capital letters allowed only at the beginning of sentences.
  2. Capital Letters allowed within Sentences, for special and unique Terms or Names.
  3. CAPITAL LETTERS THROUGHOUT THE SENTENCE.
Treatment Criteria. There are two variants:
  1. Polite treatment. English language put in a well-mannered approach, useful for serious or formal sites.
  2. Standard treatment. English language put in an everyday approach, useful for most every site.

The combination of options 3 and 2, that is a Standard Treatment with CAPS on all sentences is being offered for free. The intention of DNNEnglish is that this way you may have:

  1. A complete Language Pack, with all text resources translated and adapted to your country. Things such as Post Code instead of ZIP Code, Localisation instead of Localization, Colour instead of Color and other things like the date format are adapted to your language option. You will read "Forgotten your password?" instead of "Forgot your password?"
  2. The option to evaluate if the Language Packs offered by DNNEnglish suits your needs. You see, there are many other fixes and adaptations that have been included into those Language Packs. The original Language Pack included with DotNetNuke has been completelely re-written by professionals with a deep understanding of the English language. That is over 9000 text resources.
  • I want to make this point very clear: I am truly greatful with the work of the whole DotNetNuke community. There is absolutely nothing I would have a complain regarding DNN. The work done by the community is inmense and by all means laudable.
  • The fact that DNNEnglish is offering Language Packs is based on the same ground that there are other DNNukers offering Skins (some for free, some paid). If after the evaluation you find that the Skin provider suits your needs, then you buy from him.

One more thing, digitdemon: Please do tell me if the Language Pack you have applied to your site is from DNNEnglish, and if you downloaded it from DNN's Repository. I have just checked that their description is in fact incorrect and they do not specify that the Capitalization Criteria is ALL CAPS. You may find me at alejandro {at} dnnenglish.com.

Best regards,

Alejandro
