Locale configuration - clarification needed

Hi

I would like some simple clarification here if possible (I'm slightly confused).

I am running DNN 4.3.3 (source code version), my locale is set as below:

English en-US, Disabled
English (United Kingdom) en-GB, Enabled

I've checked "en-GB" via the "Resource File Verifier" and it says I have 298 missing resources files.

Does this locale come as standard with the package? (my perception was that it did, were they accidently excluded?), or do I need to upload the files from here?

Cheers!

Alex

Re: Locale configuration - clarification needed

Alex,

DotNetNuke comes with en-US only, ALL other locales have to be either created manually (using add new language and then adding each file in the language editor) or installed using "upload language pack".

Re: Locale configuration - clarification needed

Thanks Sebastian!

I guess my confusion stems from the fact that languages are available in a drop down in DNN 4.3.3, so one would assume they are installed.
Basically there is nothing to notify that the language pack is actually installed other than using the Resource File Verifier.

Would you not agree that in a DNN core future revision that the resource file verifier should be automatically run each time when adding a language?
If so I'll log that suggestion in Gemeni.

Cheers

Alex

Re: Locale configuration - clarification needed

Alex,

I agree, that the DDL on the front page of Languages module is often leading to confusion and we might need to rethink this design. I do not like the idea of automatically running the resource verifier, as its purpose is not to verify file structure, its purpose is to support the translators. Imagine you add a dozen modules and a lang pack for eack - this would lead to run the verifier 12 times unnecessarily. The resource verifier can however help users to determine, if there are missing or outdated language packs installed.
