Do language files get overwritten on upgrade?
Hi,

I have added some custom profile properties on PokerDIY (Interests, Accept Terms etc.)
I wanted to change the text and add some help text and a validation message - I tried to do this in the Admin Language Editor but could find no way of adding new strings -  only editing existing ones.

I then edited the .resx file and FTP'd it up - after the 4.4.1 upgrade it looks like all my custom profile properties have been overwritten.

Have I missed something or is this a slight flaw- is there anyway to change custom properties without having to do a diff and copy the changes after each upgrade?

Thanks,
Rodney

Re: Do language files get overwritten on upgrade?
Thanks, I have read that and some blog posts about it but there is no satisfactory answer - there seems to be no way to keep your custom profile properties translations....
Thanks,
Rodney

This is not what I understood from Erik & Sebastian:
if you edit resource files from admin > language, a unique resx file will be created for that portal, containing only your changes. These will never be overwritten
Re: Do language files get overwritten on upgrade?
Yes, but the whole point is that I can't figure out how to add my custom profile properties using the language editor - I can only edit existing ones (and then this rule does apply, yes)
Thanks,
Rodney
