Developing Locale aware modules

I am reletavely new to DNN and have a fairly involved module nearing completion,

unfortunately the work onn this has been stopped in preference to a more pressing task

The new task is a simple module that I would really like to develop with localisation in mind

I have the basic code complete I am now curious as to what the approved methods for localising a module are?

Is there an API guide check list or procedure listing as to what a developer should look at to achieve a localisation aware module???

Re: Developing Locale aware modules

Re: Developing Locale aware modules

I have looked at the guide localisation guide which is most useful but doesnt seem to cover how make a module locale aware for its data retrieval

I assume that this is being  developed and will mean an additional field in the database and a small code change to retrieve data for the specific locale??

dnRe: Developing Locale aware modules

I am having a problem using a string from the res file

If I set the string in code it seems to work OK

If I load it from the Local resourse XML file then for some reason it has to have quotes round it in the XML file to appear ( I then have to remove them from the string I am building in my code

I have tried using the htmldecode function on the string but this doesnt seem to change things

If I have also tried to save it to a database field in my code but this doesnt help either

But if I read it from that field and update it - even though there are no changes to the data then it behaves as expected

Is there something I should know about the setting in the resourse file???

Re: dnRe: Developing Locale aware modules

I have looked at the string the localisation.getstring that is returned and see it has some spurious blank charachters at the end - unfortunately even triming these does little to improve the performance of my module.

I have also tried setting it as a help type key but still the same problem
