Translation using .resx files is failed

Hi.

I create new module in DNN. I have there few files, and now I try to add the resx files.

I create a new resx file with the same name as the ascx file, and translate the resourcekeys from the ascx file, but nothing is change in the portal - I still see the text from the code.

All the labels are declared with resourcekey, the resx files are under folder 'App_LocalResources' in my module, and in the resx file I put the resourcekeys + .Text.

Where is my mistake???? what did I miss there?

Maybe they are some defenitions that should be set before start working with localization in this format?

Thanks, Itai.

did you checkout the module developer localization guide, available from the documentation page here on dotnetnuke, com?

Yep. I did according to the DNN guide, and still something is missing, maybe a global definition or something.

Re: Translation using .resx files is failed

Hi,

i am currently facing exactly the same problem:

I have created a small module (only some labels and textboxes and one button). Then i have created the local resourecs for the module and translated them into the target language ("de-DE") in a resourcefile i renamed to "modulename.ascx.de-DE.resx"

Whe i select the german language in DNN the module is not shown with the translations i made. I have checked the language editor for my module and the translations are there! That means they are diesplayed in the language editor correctly. But when the module is displayed they do not show up, i see the english versions (the module has been created using english labels)

All other (standard-)modules are localized fine using language packs.

In my portal german is the default language but i have also tried to set englisch as default language but got no other result.

Has anyone an idea what could go wrong when localizing?

I am using DNN 4.5.1

Thanks in advance,

Ralf

Ralf,

make sure to set you own language to de-DE in your user profile, when viewing the page.

make sure, you removed all text from the controls and get them from the resource file in english version - to verify, if you set "Show localized keys" in web config, they shall all be preceeded by (L).

Make sure, you restarted the application to clear the cache.
