Re: Translation using .resx files is failed

Hello,

that did not help. I have done localized development before in ASP.NET with no problems. But that was development of an own application, this is my first module for DNN that i want to localize.

Again the situation:

  • DNN default language is set to german.
  • The module is developed in english.
  • The local resources for the module are created and translated.
  • In VS2005 the controls are marked as localized (the ASPX source contains "meta" attributes)
  • The local resources are displayed in the translated version in the language editor of DNN
  • Other modules show up in german (i have imported the language packs for these modules)
  • My module does not show up in german

I have restarted the application, cleared all caches by hand (browser cache, DNN cache directories, temp ASP.NET directories) but the module still does not show up in german.

I have no more ideas where i can search for a setting or so that i may have missed.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Ralf

to verify, if you set "Show localized keys" in web config, they shall all be preceeded by (L).

Can you please explain this a little bit more? I do not have such an entry in my web.config for DNN.

Thanks in advance,

Ralf

Re: Translation using .resx files is failed

Another question:

I am using normal <ASP:Label > controls inside the module but in the localization guide there are <dnn:Label> controls in the examples.

I mean <asp:label> controls should work to because they are handled by the normal ASP.NET localization feature. Or is that wrong?

Do i have to use <dnn:Label> controls?

Thanks in advance,

Ralf

Re: Translation using .resx files is failed

Ralf,

the correct key in web.config is "ShowMissingKeys"

DNN localization is built similar to ASP.Net localization in many facettes, but it is independant, please check out the Module developers localization guide, available from the documentation page here on dnn.com.
