Re: Language / locales

you won't find them ;)

The names of languages in DNN come directly from ASP.NET (and from Windows), see here for more info: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.globalization.cultureinfo.aspx

Re: Language / locales

I see ;-)   thx

Can we use the neutral culture instead of culture with 2 value and avoid to make 13 localization for english for a world wide site ?

What will be the impact and which source need to be modified ?

Thx again

"A neutral culture is specified by only the two-digit lowercase language code. For example, "fr" specifies the neutral culture for French, and "de" specifies the neutral culture for German."

Re: Language / locales

there is an interference between common fallback mechanisms and DNN fallback chain, because of the different scenarios of DNN localization, in order to cover additional situations, which needs various evaluations:

  • determing the language to display from user settings,  browser settings, portal default and determine the resource file
  • which base file to retrieve the key from (resx assotiated with the ascx, the module or a global one)
  • and as well to use from portal specific modification, host modification and default resources.

Re: Language / locales
I'm not sure what you trying to accomplish here. If you just want to rename the displayed language in your site, you might try my MLLanguageSelector, which allows you to change names of all installed languages (by putting the names in a resource file). Check our my site for more information
