Re: Document authentication

How about using secure-file system instead of secure database...after doing some research, i found that i can use linkclick.aspx to access those PDF links...but does anyone know how to use linkclick.aspx?? I tried giving this URL in the href of the document - linkclick.aspx?fileid=1300 (which will be the file id from the database)...doesnt seem to work. can anyone throw some light on using linkclick.aspx? Thanks in advance

Re: Document authentication

The way I normally handle this is to place a Links Module or Documents Module on a page, and populate it with the links I want to have.  However, I keep the module visible only to Page Editors.  Then, I can copy and paste the links as needed elsewhere throughout the site.  Additionally, you are able to grab those links in the WYSIWYG text editor through its hyperlink dialog ("Choose Existing Link").

Re: Document authentication

The page i am working on does not have a Links Module or Documents module...So i just tried to edit the hyperlink property and put the URL as "/LinkClick.aspx?fileid=1000" But this does not work...does anyone know how to use "Linkclick.aspx" when you have your File Manager configuration set to "Secure - File System" or "Secure Database". Thanks in advance.

Re: Document authentication

If the page doesn't have a Links Module, just add one.

Re: Document authentication

Thats what i did...added a links module and now users can access the documents only after logging in...the only problem with that approach is the error message says "you are not authorized to view this resource"(if users are not logged in)...it would be better if error message can be customized or if they get redirected to log in page...Thanks a lot though for all your help.
