DirectoryEntry instance creation in ADSIProvider.IsAuthenticated method fails

Hi All,
My apology if this, or similar is already discussed here.

In our environment, user authentication fails at this line.
Dim userEntry As New DirectoryEntry(Path, UserName, Password, AuthenticationTypes.Signing)

And if I removed the 4th option and made it just
Dim userEntry As New DirectoryEntry(Path, UserName, Password)

It works.

What would you suggest me to do? I could use this own patched version, but better should be to stay with the one publicly distributed.

FYI. The “Authentication Type”, I leave it to the default “Delegation”. Or in fact, I have not changed anything from the default installation.

Thanks a lot in advance for your advice.
Kazu

When you say it fails what's the error message?

Thanks, Mike, for response.

"Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password"...

Funny because as I said earlier, if I remove the AuthenticationTypes.Signing, it succeeds.

MSDN documentation explains the option as follows.
"Verifies data integrity to ensure that the data received is the same as the data sent. The Secure flag must also be set to use signing."

??? Just for a trial, I put the Secure flag as well. Still fails.

I am near certain that this is our environment specific issue. Because this has been working for others here. I just want to know what could be the cause, where to be looked at.

Thanks a lot.
