Im a little confused about what appears to be the IIS and NTFS settings. 
Initially the system recognized and authenticated me correctly, assigning me
the correct role, but when I clicked into a page (such as to create a blog entry),
it seemed to sign me out, offering me the register and login links and no longer
displaying my name. 
So I gradually tightened things up, finally allowing windows authentication
only at the root folder and in ntfs allowing only network service and domain
accounts.  This keeps me logged in and authenticated, but when I attempt to log
out, either clicking on the link or pointing to logoff.aspx (so I can sign in
with the admin or host accout), it keeps me logged in with my ad account.
This is dnn 4.3.7 running under iis 6 (w2k3 server) and sql server 2000.
When I set ad up I followed the 27 step list at:
