Re: Intro to Active Directory and DNN

ioscom, most of this information is fairly old. Your DNN group name needs to be named the same as the AD Pre-Windows 2000 group name. IE: You can have an AD group named Business Staff but the Pre-Windows 2000 group name is Busstaff. You can double check this by looking at the properties of the group in AD.

The other problem you'll run into is if the user is already registered on the DNN site. They don't get synchronized on every login. Only the first one.

"hey don't get synchronized on every login. Only the first one."

And so ? After his first connexion, if the user is added to another group in the AD, this group won't be synchronized with the corresponding role ???
Do you mean that, after his first connexion, it's impossible to add or remove a user from a role in DNN using a group in the AD ?

Re: Intro to Active Directory and DNN

You'll notice that the last post before yours was well over a year ago and a lot has changed since then. If you're using DNN 4.6 or higher then roles are synchronized everytime a user logs in. If you're using below 4.6 then let us know as there were fixes done that may apply to the version of DNN you're running.

Re: Intro to Active Directory and DNN

Thanks for the information Mike. I was wondering about the host and admin accounts after the site is shifted to Active Directory. I have switched to AD without giving username and password on the Authentication adding page. Any help would be appreciated.
