Active Directory Provider - Endless loop

Hi,

Well ... Iv always had the problems with DNN and both the earlier setup with the provider build in the core, and this new external provider that if the user doesnt exist in the Database the browser ends up in an endless loop refreshing the page.

Iv really tried everythnig i can come upon ever since DNN 4.1.2. and the debugging iv done with visual studio show me an endless loop in the cashing.

Anyway, today iv made a fresh install of DNN 4.8.4 and the external provider 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 (Both on new installations) but must regreat i still have those isues, just worse and now even though the user exists in the Database the also end up in this endless loop.

Something new has happend though, if i browse sirect to the login page with a tabid and thats needed it works perfect.
http://domain.com/DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/WindowsSignin.aspx?tabid=52

Question, doest this makes sence for anyone?

Using:
IIS6 - (Windows 2000 server)
DNN 4.8.4
AD Provider 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 both tested
MSSQL 2000 and MSSQL 2005 - both tested
IE6 and IE7 - both tested

Anyway, nice work Mike, i sure hope we someday will be able to use this provider.

Re: Active Directory Provider - Endless loop

This is weird, iv made some new tests today.

If i turn on the AD provider i as say in the past post end up in and endless loop with the browser keep refreshing.

Iv look in the IIS log file, and it seems the IIS returnes a error code 302

2008-06-26 14:33:48 000.000.000.000 DOMAIN\USERNAME 000.000.000.000 80 GET /Default.aspx - 302 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+5.1;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+3.0.04506.30;+.NET+CLR+3.0.04506.648;+.NET+CLR+3.5.21022)

302-Object Moved (IIS 6.0)

This standard redirection status code tells the Web client to issue a new request to the location specified in the Location HTTP header.

Any idear why this only happens when the AD Provider is enabled.

Re: Active Directory Provider - Endless loop

Are you using Windows Authentication in your web.config instead of forms Authentication? That's the only time I've seen DNN get put into that endless loop.

Re: Active Directory Provider - Endless loop

Iv tried with both Windows and forms, but only in forms if i uses the example in one of the other topics, when you redirect the user to the login page.

This was the last test:

<

authentication mode="forms">forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" loginUrl="DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/WindowsSignin.aspx?tabid=39"timeout="60" cookieless="UseCookies" />authentication>authorization>deny users="?"/>authorization>

Iv tested on 2 diffent installations on 2 different servers, but i end up with the same problem.

Iv had this problem every since DNN 4.2.2, but only with new users not know in the database. Now its everyone. If i manuel browse to the loginpage and add a tabid, its not a problem, everyone can login that way.
