No Option Other than Beta Test Gallery Module?

This is probably a classic newbie, nontechnical question but... The DNN walkthrough shows both an Image module and a Gallery module, but the latest version, which I downloaded and installed earlier this week, has neither. Is the only way for me to add images to my site to download the public beta Gallery module or to buy a commercial module?

Re: No Option Other than Beta Test Gallery Module?

Lois,

If your looking to display just a single image here and there, then you can use the Text/HTML module to do so. If in fact you're looking for a true gallery, I recommend Ventrian's Simple Gallery. It's a very good module that Scott updates with new features regularly, and as all of the Ventrain modules are subscription based, you get all the updates you need as long as your subscription is active. And as an added bonus, there are several really good modules that are also included in the subscription, such as the News Articles module. This is a great value...and no, I don't work for them, just a long time happy customer.

Thanks. That helps. Especially since I can't seem to get the Gallery module to install (says I need to upgrade my DNN version, which is 4.0.9).

Re: No Option Other than Beta Test Gallery Module?

At time yes. But we are close to go to the release tracker.  I think it would be this month.  So I hope we have the release on end of this month.  In this first version you can use the beta and RC to upload your files, and later you can uninstall the module, but look before to the folder path in the Gallery Configuration !   You can then new install the module and add it to the page, and chnage the Folderpath to the one you ave on the last beta or RC.

Notice please, that this should only work for the Gallery 4.3.0 version.  We would ad in the 2nd version a DAL, an hopefull the iPortable feature.

Lois

About some security fixes I suggest the upgrade to DNN 4.9.0 !  But if you planed it do it in several steps.
