Stars image shown when voting is disabled

I disabled voting in gallery settings, but stars image (stars_0.gif) is still shown. Is there possibility to remove it without breaking gallery layout (I tried to make stars_0.gif transparent with 1px height, but there is redundand space between thumbnail and title in this case)?

Any ideas will be appreciated

Thanks
