critical error has occurred ...

i am new to dotnetnuke and i have just implemented my first DNN powered site. it's a site for my son's youth football team, nothing too ellaborate or overly sophisticated. i added the gallery module and created several photo albums to support such things as game images and player profiles. every single instances where i've left the site for whatever reason and then gone back to the site to view the gallery there has been an error message displayed:

"A critical error has occurred."
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

and the gallery module is empty of all albums and images with none of the editing functionality available. i have to delete the module definition, delete the module itself, and then re-load the module. once i do this then the photo albums and images are once again there. is this something that is a know issue running dnn3.1.1 or is there something that i can do to correct this myself?

i would appreciate any information that anyone might have on this.

thanks

Re: critical error has occurred ...
This error has been arround for over a month with no resolution, so has the install prolbems and the maintenance problems. Is there a time frame when some of these issues can be resolved. I've read the fourms and I am tired of doing the work arrounds.

Re: critical error has occurred ...

Yes, I am hoping to be doing the wrap up this weekend, then sometime shortly after that will be the next release.  I understand your frustrations, but please check my blogs on here accessible from the project page prior to writing discouraging posts.

Thanks for the replys and the information that I was looking for. Can't wait for the fix, my son's football team loves the gallery.

re: "A critical error has occurred."
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

This message was displayed when a search was submitted and appeared on the search result page. I'm using DNN 4.x

The following action worked for me.

1. Logged in as HOST / SUPER USER

2. HOST menu - selected SEARCH ADMIN

3. clicked "RE-INDEX CONTENT"  located bottom right

Success.
