Meta Weblog API.. is it really near?

For a long long time (since before blog was part of the distribution), I have waited patiently for metaweblog support.  When people ask about posting to blog using email (which is why I want the API), they are always told the only option is to wait for it.  I didnt say anything, because it was always announced as coming one day, and since DNN is a free product, and I didnt feel I had a right to ask for more than that.

Instead, I make do by running a wordpress in an Iframe. But I check in, every few months, to see if maybe this option might actually be on the way.

Now I notice two things.  Firstly, people are starting to sell modules that might be tweaked to do what I want, and secondly the issue tracker seems to suggest that support of the API is actually close at hand.

So I think its reasonable to speak up and ask:  Is it really just around the corner?

If so, I wont buy an external module, and Ill be patient a few more months.

Tell me the truth, I can take it :-)

Re: Meta Weblog API.. is it really near?

Hi Ray,

good news for you: the metaweblog API is really around the corner! The team is working hard on it, and everything seems to work fine with it, but, as you  can imagine, this will take some more time for internal testing. I suggest you to postpone the decision to buy 3rd party modules and have a look to the next version of the blog module first: I think you will be nicely surprised!

Best regards
Dario Rossa
