Developing the Blog module in the correct Visual Studio setup and manner? 

Hi Antonio and all other DNN pros

I have had problems setting up modules for adjusting/customization the way all the rest of you are doing and I'd like to verify that I am doing it correct this time.

I am using VS 2005 on a vista machine and DNN 4.8.4 running in .Net framework 2.0 and has sett things upp like this:

This is what I call side by side assemblies (compilation side by side to bring to the common bin folder) What do you guys call this way of developing for DotNetNuke?

Question:

  • I had to convert the VS project files before being able to run this in VS 2005. Why is that? Have I got the wrong sourcefiles or are you guys currently developing the Blog module in VS 2003? Why is that so. I'd like to understand I don't have any thoughts or  want things in another way. I am thinking of that some people in here are using the VS 2008 already

Hi Johan,

this is the correct pattern I have seen to develop custom modules and modify core ones. Said that, the core Blog module is still coded using .NET Framework 1.1 and VS 2003.
