Help please. Blog posting had strange effect on editing web site

I just started to use the Blog module in my web site www.UncleShooter.com and was posting a new blog entry.  The page took forever to postback and when it did there were rements of the editing and display pages.  I opened another browser on another system and the Blog page was empty.  When I went to edit tha Blog page it was empty and could not even edit a text/html module.

I opened up other pages in the web site and now all of them appear blank in edit mode and there is no way to change the content, Text/HTML doesn't have edit text, feedback doesn't have edit.  When you attempt to editing the setting of any module none of the module specific settings (usually at the bottom) are there.

The web site still displays content bt I can edit any of it.  This was just after the posting a new blog entry.

This is my hobby site site and nota customer site so it's not a put out the fire issue but I would like to edit that site.

Any suggestions of repair tips would be appreciated

Thank you

Shooter,

I visited the link above to check what was going on but the blog page does not have the blog module in it.

Re: Help please. Blog posting had strange effect on editing web site

Yes, that is because I can do ANY EDIT's on the web site across all pages.  The Blog modules don't have the Add Blog entry like they did when I started.

None of the modules have edit capabilities, it is only affecting this one site on the host.  Site was working fine, I have my first 4 blog entries but when I added the 5th which never appeared to complete is when the problem started.

When adding the blog module to the blog page it never finishes.

I would be willing to give you admin access to this site, eMail me with your email and I will send you the authentication information.

This is installed on a GoDaddy shared server and been running for almost a year under V4.5.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Re: Help please. Blog posting had strange effect on editing web site

OK, I just went to verify my previous post and now it appears as though I can edit other pages but the blog page with blog module still just hangs with the progress bar stuck at about 95%.

This may sound funny but it's much better even though I seem to have lkost my blog entries.  The blog page still hangs.  My offer of authenication information via email still stands I'm curious what the issue is...

When creating a new blog page the same thing happens it hangs at about 95% and never comes back.

Thank you for any assistance

Re: Help please. Blog posting had strange effect on editing web site

I have resolved the issues I had and of course one of them is "Operator Error" and the other was a cut & paste nightmare.

The "operator error" was the (Design) Icon in the admin panel, duh...  When it's clicked all the text in the modules disappears to allow you to move modules around a bit easier.

The cut & paste error was a web site that I copied the text and a Flash Movie, I was able to paste it in the window and the Flash windows and text appeared.  When I updated the page, it just hung.  When I aborted IE and restarted the blog page hangs on the display of that Flash window.

I was able to go into "Design" mode and export the contents (Available if you are interested) and view it.  It appears the copy & paste created some XML content that really bothered DNN.  So I attempted (even though I know better) to edit the XML and import the content.  Didn't work

So I deleted the Blog module and verified that the blog page now loaded, even though it was blank.  Then I reloaded the Blog module and began the manual process of loading blog entries.  The XML will make this task a little easier.  I plan to export the blog more frequently and avoid cutting and pasting movies.

Even with all this effort to repair this issue I am still very impressed with the blog module.

If you want any of the files let me know and I post them on the download section of www.UncleShooter.com

Thank you
