How do I prevent the Summary and Read More... from appearing?? 

I just want the blog to show the full blog entry, no summary, no "Read More...".

I have already unchecked the button about creating a summary, and I've left the summary field blank (first RTE window in 'Add Entry') and I've only typed in the second RTE window for my blog entry.

DNN keeps showing blank and 'Read More...'.

How do I fix this??

Hi Tom,

This confused me at first too.  The checkbox for showing the blog summary is for the summary of the blog itself, which appears at the top of the listing of the blog entries.  Took me a while to get that, but it made sense after I realized it.

To show the full blog entry, you'll need to log in with an account that has sufficient privileges to see the Module Options menu for the View Blog module which shows the listing of blog entries.  Enter a really large number in the Limit Blog Summary To: field.  I always enter 2000000, which means your blog entries can be up to 2 million characters long.  If you're writing blog entries longer than that on a regular basis, we need to talk.

On another note, I would recommend this to anyone using the blog module because of the way the blog module handles the truncation of the content.  If no summary field is entered, then the blog module takes the value from the actual blog entry and truncates it after the number of characters specified in the Limit Blog Summary To field.  The problem is that this content usually contains HTML, and the blog module isn't designed to check to see if I'm truncating in the middle of a tag.  Most browsers can handle the orphaned tags most of the time, but the chance is always there that your truncated content will cause problems further down in the page.  So, I recommend disabling this truncation by following the step above.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing.

When I open the blog to add a new entry, I see two RTEs.

The first RTE I assume is for typing the summary, which I want to leave blank.

The second RTE I assume is for typing the actual blog entry, which I want to have displayed when the end user opens the blog page.

I left the first RTE blank and typed text into the second RTE and all I get upon opening the page is 'Read More...' for the two test entries.

Are you recommending that I should have my end users fill in the first RTE (summary??) and use this as the main blog entry to avoid having the 'Read More...' text??

I want to always only display the complete blog text....I don't want any 'Read More...' text at all anywhere.

I don't want people to click twice to read each blog entry...this is not standard practice on real blogs like WordPress, Blogger, Movable Type.

I'm sorry, but my limited experience to date with this blog module makes me realize I'm stuck with an ill-designed piece of great mediocrity.

Did you increase the 'Limit Blog Summary To' field as I mentioned above?  That's the trick to showing the entire blog entry in the initial blog view.
