Edit Blog entry error: System.UnauthorizedAccessException

I had the "server tag" error a while ago, fixed it. It allows me to add new blog entries now. However, if I try to edit an entry, I get this error:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Access to the path '{blah}\Portals\0\Blog\Files\2\91' is denied. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '{blah}\Portals\0\Blog\Files\2\91' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectory(String fullPath, String path, DirectorySecurity dirSecurity) at System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(String path, DirectorySecurity directorySecurity) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.File.FileController.getEntryDir(String pModulPath, EntryInfo pEntry) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.File.FileController.getFileList(String pModulPath, EntryInfo pEntry) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.EditEntry.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

What do I need to do here?

Also, for some reason I can no longer upload photos using the Blog's photo thingy. If I FTP a photo to the right location, I can use that image in my blog, but uploaded gives me a 'general error' and doesn't work :(

Any help?

Re: Edit Blog entry error: System.UnauthorizedAccessException

Hi Bryce,

What version of the Blog module and DNN are you using?  I'm not really certain about some of the older versions of the blog module.  They may have required that the account ASP.NET uses (ASPNET or NetworkService or possibly some custom account if you have your site hosted) have write access to your portal directory (0).  In the latest version of the blog module, you'll need to configure access for file uploads using the FileManager.  Your best bet is to create a role for all your bloggers who should have upload permission and assign this role the appropriate level of access (Edit) to the folders in the root path of your portal where these users should be able to upload files.

Also, if working with images is important to you or your users, you may want to download metaPost and give it a spin.  Working with images is one of the main reasons we created metaPost.  There's a link in my signature below.  If your ASPNET account (or NetworkService or, again, possible some custom account if you're hosted) doesn't have write permissions, you'll run into the same problem with metaPost when adding blog posts.

Don
