Can anyone help me with setting up trackbacks in Blog module???

I am tryibg to configure my blog so that it can accept trackbacks . Also, what should happen when we click trackback button

my blog is setup as follows:

Make this blog public Allow users to post comments Approval for user comments required Allow anonymous users to post comments Approval for anonymous comments required Allow Trackback comments Approval for Trackback Comments required Trackback Auto Discovery (Client Mode) Send mail notification after comments and trackbacks are posted Use CAPTCHA for comments   When displaying your identity use: User Name Full Name

I don't have Autoping etc do I need it? When I put a url in Trackback URL textbox in edit mode for the entry and click update I assume the url will be saved but it is not. I am totally new to trackback , Please help...........thetrackback button shows up in blog entry but when users click it they get this error
