Blog entry does not show in RSS

Hi

I have both the "Syndicate this blog"  and “Syndicate independently” options selected in all my blogs modules in DNN version 4.8.2, but there is none of  my blog entries in my News Feed, other stuffs, such News, Documents, etc are there. I am new to DNN, could you please help?

Thanks,

Re: Blog entry does not show in RSS

Just by chance...  How long did you wait to see the blog entry show up?  The RSS feed is updated when the Search task runs.  By default, I think it runs every 30 minutes.  That being the case, it could take up to 30 minutes to see your blog show up in the RSS feed.  Then, if you are using an RSS reader to check this, you may want to factor in how often your reader updates the feeds that it displays.

Re: Blog entry does not show in RSS

Hi Nancy, hi Hismightyness,

@ Nancy: the RSS feed generation has a known issue with displaying entries from child blogs. Some other thread in this forum are discussing it: entries from the parent blog aren't displayed, and this is not the behavior we expect from it. For the moment we do not have an easy workaround: the team is addressing the issue, and you have good chances to see it working correctly in the next version.

@ hismightyness: as far as I know the Blog module RSS feed generation is run hitting directly the database and querying data. This means that all content is shown in the RSS channel immediately after it is added to the database. The problem rises if you use feed readers: Yahoo, for instance, updates the feeds after some hours.

I hope I gave you some help.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Re: Blog entry does not show in RSS

That is interesting.  I am not having syndication problems with my blogs at all (child or parent).  The only problem I can report is that in one of my installations, the timestampt occurs in the future, and I cannot nail down why.

Re: Blog entry does not show in RSS

Hi Will,

I guess there is some kind of inconsistence between timezones in the module display and RSS feed generation. I wonder if yours is the case that was in this thread, and if the workaround works with you too.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
