Re: Setting up Roles for using Blog

Don,

I am having aht is likely a very basic problem, but I am hoping to resolve this issue.  I hve provisioned a blog on my site that was intended for only registered users to read (my wife is blogging her pregnancy for the family).  Any way, she can see her entry and the host can see the entry, but any other user (including the Admin) only sees "No Entries were posted for this blog. "  I have modified each BLOG component to allow VIEW permissions for any registered user, but this message is still being displayed.  Any ideas?

Thank you in advance for any direction you might be able tot provide.

Bill

Re: Setting up Roles for using Blog

Interesting.  I'm interested to know more about how the blog is configured.  Have you configured your wife's blog to be private?

I would have to look closer at the code to see what may be causing the "No Entries were posted for this blog." message you are receiving.  You may want to experiment with other ways of securing the blog, like making it private and showing the blog entries in another tab where the tab itself is only visible to members of a certain role.

Sorry I don't have anything more specific than this.  Be sure to followup here in the forums if you aren't able to make any progress.

Re: Setting up Roles for using Blog

So do I understand correctly, that blog entry permissions are assigned *only* to the specific user account that created the blog and is not assignable to a role?

If so, is this issue roadmapped for resolution with an ETA?

Re: Setting up Roles for using Blog

Hi Chris,

yes, you are correct. At the moment only the user account that created the blog can add entries to that blog. A common workaround is to create a general user account such as "NewsEditor" or "Blogger" and share the credentials (username and password) between the people that will contribute to the blog.

Version 03.xx.xx probably will not be implemented with role-based permissions, but this is one of the key features of the next generation 04.xx.xx that will be completely rewritten.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
