Re: Setting up Roles for using Blog

Hi! HP,

I have successfully installed version of blog in my page. And also I have given the permissions in the setting for each blog modules.  But when I open the my web page with having only default users (Admin and Host), as un-registred user, I am getting error for Create New Blog module as

An error has occurred.
Error: New Blog is currently unavailable. :(

Any specific reason for this? But when I login as any one of the user, I am not getting this error! :)

Can you please guide me what had went wrong?

Thanks.

Hello,
I had the same problem occur at one point. I solved it by deleting the Blog from the SQL database. All tables that have something to do with blog (I think there are 3 or so) and delete all rows in the database. After that you can  create a new blog from scratch. I have not got the same problem again.

I supppose that it is possible to only delete one specific blog if you are sure you delete the ones with the correct ID, it shouldn't be too hard.

Re: Setting up Roles for using Blog

Hi,

I am having problems allowing a specified role to edit/create blog entries.  I have installed the latest version (03.02.00) and do not see all of the modules listed in the original post.  I don't have Roll or Menu.  I do have:
   -  Search
   -  Archive (calendar)
   -  Blog List
   -  New Blog
   -  Entry

In each case, I gave the specified role view/edit access.  At this point, only 1 blog exists and it does not contain any children.  When I log in, using the specified role, "Help" is the only option available from the menu.  Any ideas?

Scott

I am having the exact same problem. I have the same version of Blog and I have just installed it on a nearly-clean system (After Events and HouseMenu and my own skin). I have tried giving a role the permissions in the original post, and have tried giving a role permissions to view and edit every module in the blog, but it seems that any role except administrator just has "Help" in the action menu.

I am on DNN 4.03 with SQL 2000.

Can anyone help?

Re: Setting up Roles for using Blog
I have some more information about my problem. I have created a role "Blog Editor", with two test users in that role. A "Blog Editor" can create a new blog, and then add entries to that blog fine. However, a "Blog Editor" cannot add entries to any blog that was created by another "Blog Editor" or by an administrator.

Michal.

Re: Setting up Roles for using Blog
I have yet more information:

Even if I try to give "All Users" edit permission, then all they get is a "Help" menu. Also, giving the role of "Blog Editor" that I have created permission to edit a text/html module works fine.

Apologies for posting so many times,

Michal.
