Calculated Field

Can the calculated field use to calculate a whole column?  It appears to me that you can only calculate information in a row.  If it can calculate a column, what is the syntax?

Re: Calculated Field

calculated fields act only per row, no sum or max function available.

For help on calculated columns have a look into the user manual, available at our project's download page.

Re: Calculated Field

Thanks for the reply.

How am I ever going to make my "Settlers of Catan (Die Siedlers von Catan)" game tracker without a column counting function?

I guess our piece of graph paper in the box is working.

Seriously though.  Any thoughts of adding this feature to the UDT.  I really like the UDT and I think it is a great module!

Tschuss,

Stuart

Re: Calculated Field

Stuart,

UDT calculated colum reuses the expression syntax of dataset. You will find a whole description at MSDN: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/cpref/html/frlrfSystemDataDataColumnClassExpressionTopic.asp

AGGREGATES
The following aggregate types are supported:
Sum (Sum)
Avg (Average)
Min (Minimum)
Max (Maximum)
Count (Count)
StDev (Statistical standard deviation)
Var (Statistical variance).
Aggregates are usually performed along relationships. ...[we don't have relationships inside but:]...

An aggregate can also be performed on a single table. For example, to create a summary of figures in a column named "Price":

Sum(Price)

Note   If you use a single table to create an aggregate, there would be no group-by functionality. Instead, all rows would display the same value in the column.

forms & Lists (UDT5.0) will be the next major release of the User Defined Table project.
A first Preview is available, though it requires DotnetNuke 5 (Beta 5).

Re: Calculated Field
I think I am starting to understand here.

Let me explain to you what I am trying to do and perhaps you can present to me the solution.

I am trying to make a simple account worksheet.

I have columns named:

Debit
Credit
Total

Basically I want Total to be equal to Credit-Debit for that row.

I want my table to look like this.

Debit
Credit
Total
300
300
10
290
50
240

Is this possible?

Stuart
