sherifalfy answered the question registration form DNN7

i understand that you need to add more field to your registeration form but you can't find some types that you need , i think the answer would be creating a new custom module that serves your need , and you can set from dnn host settings the register page where you will be placing your new module.

i faced the same problem where i have to customize many things and it wasnot provided in the default dnn register form so i had to make my own module and used UserController class to handle all functions to be registering a user.

Geoff Barlow asked the question Module develpment standards

Hi all,

I am looking for some advice...

I have an idea for a new module and I would like to know which version of DotNetNuke to develop from.

Is the standard now to develop for Dnn7 or is it better to develop for Dnn6 (at the moment I use Dnn6.2 as standard).

If the standard is now for Dnn7, which version should I develop against?

Thanks for you advice

Bruce ChapmanVerifying Azure Compatibility of DNN Extensions upon Installation

DNN has been Azure compatible since version 6.0, when a concerted effort was made to make sure that all the underlying core DNN database code was made compatible with SQL Azure.    This early foray into hosting DNN sites on Azure was further improved with the release of the DNN Azure Accelerator, which started with DNN 6 and continues to the current day.

There is an increased need for verifying DNN Extensions for Azure compatibility, and this blog entry discusses the new element being introduced for DNN 7.1.

Jonathan Sheely answered the question Html Module, Items stacking Horizontally

I'm not 100% certain what element you're talking about but this is simply a CSS configuration issue.

Depending on your browser of choice, you can use their developer tools to identify the LI element and the CSS that is causing it to wrap the list.

You'll want to look for display:inline or float:left

Jonathan Sheely answered the question Member directory bug?

Yes it appears to be a bug. I recommend that in the future you submit these to http://support.dotnetnuke.com ticket tracker instead of the community exchange.

I went ahead and logged it for you.

Steven asked the question Facebook Comments

I've just setup Facebook comments. Everything is working well, except I don't get email notifications.

The Facebook debug tool gives me the following:

Open Graph Warnings That Should Be Fixed

Extraneous Property:
Objects of this type do not allow properties named 'og:email'.

Parser Mismatched Metadata:
The parser's result for this metadata did not match the input metadata. Likely, this was caused by the data being ordered in an unexpected way, multiple values being given for a property only expecting a single value, or property values for a given property being mismatched. Here are the input properties that were not seen in the parsed result: 'og:email'

Any help or guidance on this would be great.

hazen wilson asked the question Member directory bug?

Dnn 7 (latests production release)
Add the member directory to a page. Goto settings and select filter by, profile properties.
(must be profile data in users profile for cities) enter a city that a user profile has data for. Update/save the module. The module should now show the users in that city.
What happens is: Module works properly for superusers. You can see the queryd cit profiles. but any other user in any other role cannot see the queried list. If you go back into the settings for the module and remove the 'profile property filter from the filter settings then the module functions properly (without the filter)

Jonathan Sheely answered the question Remove Message and Notifications Elements in Login Bar?

The login control has a property on it called LegancyMode. Set it to True in order to go back to the old style.

Jonathan Sheely answered the question Cookie usage in dotnetnuke

What is being duplicated? The cookie or the cookie value?

It is unlikely that the cookie is being duplicated as you can't have 2 cookies with the same name. Ensure that you are checking for the existing of the cookie before assigning the value. If the cookie exists then grab the value of that.

For better support. Please post a code snippet.

Luis,

beside of what Brian already told this could also be an IIS and/or ASP.Net issue. Have you tried to install the latest Windows Updates already?

Mike Ryckman answered the question Images stopped displaying

Hello,

There are two basic answers I can think of here that might explain this:

First, when you moved your site, you may have just moved the database or something and missed some of the file structures. If your images were in folders in your site, this may have happened.

Second, you may have had the images stored on a second site who's url was broken when you moved your site.

In either case, the easiest diagnostic is to just see where your images are supposed to be coming from and see if those URLs exist. Because if they do, your last possibility is probably a permissions error on the folder with the images.
