DotNetNuke® Project :: XML Module

The XML module is one of the 10 original modules which have been released as part of the IBuySpy portal.

xml module

XML module is working in three steps;

  1. it queries XML Data,
  2. transforms the XML data using an XSL transformation,
  3. and returns the result back to the user.

  4. All settings are stored inside DotNetNuke.

You say goodbye
and I say hello hello hello

Say hello to the new Iframe 04.03.00 release, first release as a DNN4.x WSP module. It contains some bug fixes and  few enhancements, e.g. new AutoHeight feature.

Here is the full list of changes:

IFM-6790 Upgraded to DNN 4.x as WSP module
IFM-6792 Parameter Editor: save pending changes by default
IFM-6789 Added ModuleID and Locale as available parameter
IFM-5702 Frameborder attribute issue solved
IFM-5671 Argument for parameters is no longer limited to 50 chars
IFM-6851 Auto height based on content (limititation: content needs to be in the same domain as site)
IFM-6885 ALLOWTRANSPARENCY is not in any (X)HTML standard, so it is not set if false
IFM-6886 No overwrites of setting changes while adding new querystring parameters
IFM-6887 Missing some {databaseOwner} statements in 03.02.00.SqlDataProvider

The new release is available for download at the project download site.

A big thank you goes to Matthias and Timo for their attentive work during the release process, it helped creating a better release.

One year ago I was asked to take over the job as team lead for the IFrame module. It was my task to get this module back to life. I fixed some showstoppers, added a few enhancements and updated the module to the dnn4.x/ asp.net 2.0 platform.  There are no more open bugs and requests inside the tracker.

Speaking for myself, I never use IFrames or the Iframe module in my projects, so i have no deeper interests in it.

As the mission is now fullfilled, I decided  to retire from this project. So say goodbye to me as IFrame project team lead . I am going to focus my work on XML and UDT projects again.

There is currently no successor for this project announced - I don't think the IFrame project has reached the end of it's ability to be extended. The autostrech feature can still be enhanced further, and I am quite sure their are other exiting enhancements waiting for their chance.

If you are interested, please send a mail with your application. I would remain as Team Sponsor, if needed.

Stefan - Thanks for your good work!
Why do you never use the module?
Are there drawbacks besides Netscape 4.X?

Re: IFrame - Hello Goodbye

@plord: it is not about drawbacks.
We were able to rewrite our old legacy solutions into dnn modules in very short time and we have no need to include any (*) other content. So there is simply no need using an iframe tag or the iframe module itself.
(* Funny thing is that one I was told yesterday that I am wrong, and we are using the iframe module at least at on one single page. That is fine, every other solution would have been overkill.)

Re: IFrame - Hello Goodbye

@axp: please use the forums for any support questions.
The module is a WSP module, no assemblies or rescources are required. Just install the common way (->host->modules->install new module).
