What is DotNetNuke Professional Edition?

DotNetNuke Professional is the “certified” version of DotNetNuke.  DNN Corp. guarantees that customers using the certified version of DotNetNuke will have their problems addressed in a timely manner, and that any issues that arise with the Professional product will be identified and corrected as quickly as possible.  DNN Corp will correct all issues, assuming they are traced to the certified product itself.  Professional Edition customers have prioritized access to any software updates, feature releases or documentation changes. Professional Edition customers can select how they wish to receive these updates through a variety of available notification and download alternatives.

Certified—DNN Corp. owns all copyrights to the DotNetNuke framework, and can indemnify Professional Edition customers against potential legal challenges. If a Professional Edition customer faces legal challenges regarding use of DotNetNuke, DNN Corp. can furnish proof of copyright ownership, or, if necessary replace the code in contention.

Supported–DNN Corp. is the only company in the DotNetNuke ecosystem with complete, inside expertise on the framework. Is DotNetNuke Corp. changing its focus to concentrate on the Professional Edition?

No.  DotNetNuke Corp. (DNN Corp.) is expanding the DotNetNuke Ecosystem by providing a commercial, certified version of its critically acclaimed open source framework.  DNN Corp. was established three years ago to ensure the broadest possible reach and utility of DotNetNuke technology.  With over 600,000 registered uses and hundreds of thousands of applications in place, DotNetNuke is the leading framework in Microsoft environments.  The user community has regularly requested a “commercial” or “certified” version of DotNetNuke for applications intended for production environments.  To support the broad, diverse DotNetNuke user community, DNN Corp. raised series A funding and has expanded the DotNetNuke offering to include a Professional Edition.  The introduction of the Professional Edition builds on the Community Edition, but is not intended to displace it.  As stewards of the DotNetNuke Ecosystem, DNN Corp. understands the need for both Community and Professional Editions, and encourages the user community to deploy whichever version best suits individual application requirements.

DNN Corp. is committed to the DotNetNuke Ecosystem, which includes both the Professional and Community Editions of the DotNetNuke code base as well as DotNetNuke Partners and the DotNetNuke Marketplace. Do I have to reinstall my Community Edition instance in order to move to Professional Edition?

No- Community Edition users can convert to a Professional Edition subscription without impacting their DotNetNuke application at all.  No re-coding or modifications are required, and NO data will be lost.

When is DotNetNuke Professional Edition available?

DotNetNuke Professional Edition is available now.  Information on the product and how the Professional Edition fits into the DotNetNuke “ecosystem” will be added to our website on February 16, 2009, and at that time we encourage anyone interested in converting to Professional Edition to read all about our new offering.

Although DNN Corp. is itself a start-up, the technology created by the company’s team has been in use for over six years, and in nearly half a million production deployments.  We’re on the fourth generation of the product, which has been exhaustively tested and refined, and we have the expertise to offer a Professional Edition suitable for mission-critical applications.  DNN Corp. leads a large, varied ecosystem that includes users, partners and vendors, all of whom contribute to the scalability and flexibility of the core product.

Will you support the products available in DotNetNuke Marketplace?

Products developed and marketed by DNN Corp. are supported by DNN Corp.  Products offered through the DotNetNuke Marketplace are developed and sold by third-party vendors and are not supported by DNN Corp.  Marketplace third-party products vary in terms of price and support, and we encourage Professional Edition customers to work with individual vendors to understand their respective offerings.

What is the roadmap for DotNetNuke Professional?

DNN Corp.  has not yet announced the 2009 release schedule for DotNetNuke Professional Edition.  The first release is expected to occur in late January/early February, with a follow-on release within the next six months.

How many incidents am I allowed with my Professional subscription?

DNN Corp. does not have pre-set limits for number of incidents related to Professional Edition.

Do you have professional services available for custom development?

One of the benefits of standardizing on DotNetNuke is the extensive community working with the technology over the last five years. The DotNetNuke ecosystem includes many service providers with expertise in developing and deploying DotNetNuke applications.

Does DotNetNuke Corp. provide hosting services?

DNN Corp. does not currently offer hosting services.  We have a number of partners who provide a wide variety of hosted alternatives for customer who wish to use DotNetNuke as a service.
