Version 03.05.04 of the Repository Module has passed all release tests and is now officially available on CodePlex.

I addition to moving the source code to .Net 3.5 SP1 and Visual Studio 2010, 03.05.04 includes some major enhancements that I hope will make the module even more useful

This blog will show you how to bring DotNetNuke core tables into your Entity Framework model, create associations between core tables and your module’s tables and display that data in your views, through knockout data binding and your WCF Data Service.

Continuing our look at “Data” using the Entity Framework, WCF Data Service and Knockout.js, we see how to Add data to your tables.  We’ll take a look at how to use the Entity Framework/WCF Data Service/Knockout.js components to build a form and add data to our module tables.

In part 5, we talk about client-side databinding, and utilizing the MVVM style of development on the client with Knockout.js.

Continuing our look at “Data” using the Entity Framework, WCF Data Service and Knockout.js, we see how to add EDIT and DELETE functionality to your module. We’ll take a look at how to use the technologies and techniques we’ve learned so far and build an EDIT form.

In this next part of the series, we’ll take a look at how the combination of Entity Framework and WCF Data Services gives you an awesome data access layer in no time flat, Quick, Easy and Powerful.

Over the course of this series, I’ve been developing a DotNetNuke technology template for building DotNetNuke modules with the latest open source libraries and technologies, as well as Entity framework and WCF Data Services.  As planned, the template is being tweaked and enhanced throughout the series.  Today I uploaded a new version (1.2) of the template. Version 1.2 includes some great enhancements that make writing DNN modules even easier!

The Gooddogs DotNetNuke Technology Template includes the Blueprint CSS Framework, and this blog post / video will show you how to use the framework to control the formatting of your module’s output.

I’m working on a new Visual Studio 2010 Project Template, that I am calling the Gooddogs DotNetNuke Technology Module Template.  My goal is to develop a template for building DotNetNuke Modules using the latest technologies. Let’s face it, it’s 2012 now, and I’m tired of building modules the same way I did back in 2003. I want to be able to build modules using the latest cool stuff.

The Gooddogs Technology Project Template for DotNetNuke module development is now available in an early form for you to download and try out. This Visual Studio 2010 project template is pre-configured to allow you to build DotNetNuke modules using the latest technologies like Entity Framework, WCF Data Serviced, popular open source frameworks like Knockout,js, AutoMapper and the Blueprint CSS Framework
