The Firebug plugin "PixelPerfect' allows you to load an image as an overlay of the website in your browser, which I use a lot to check a skin with the original graphic Design.

Today I created a plugin to allow a user to add the available Tokens you can use in the HTML module from a dropdown list.
You can download it from codeplex

I'm proud to announce that 25 skins have entered the second DotNetNuke Skinning Contest.
A large variety of well designed, high quality skins have been submitted.
I would like to thank all the submitters for their contribution to the community.
I'm sure the results of this contest will be a boost for both DotNetNuke and the submitters.

I posted an update to my Nav Demo Skin on codeplex.
I included a simple Tab menu example.

Changes:
1. Removed some double items (other tokens, but the same result)
2. Changed order so most used Tokens are on top
3. Changed the texts shown in the drop down to a description (was the token).
4. Added localization support for the description.

I attended Shaun Walkers Keynote at Open Force Europ 2009 yesterday.
As usual there were some great anoucements and I will not go into all of them, but ther was one announcement I realy liked (and didn't already know about)

Yesterday during our team chat and after consulting the judges, we decided to extend the Skin Contest deadline by 2 weeks.

The deadline to submit your skin is now Feb 5, 2010.

You now have 2 weeks extra to submit a skin, become the top DNN skinner  and win some of our great prizes.

As most of you know I think XHTML compliancy is very important for DotNetNuke.

During the past week I spent some time on a module (not my own) to get it XHTML compliant.
I published an internal document on XHTML modules for the Core Team which I updated with my experiences updating the module.
This is that document as a blog post, to give some guidence to module developers who want to get their module XHTML compliant.

Use less CSS files Tip

Several resources like Yahoo dev network http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html advize to use as little CSS files as possible to limit the ammount of HTTP requests for a page.

DotNetNuke can potentially load a lot of CSS files, this can make managing your CSS easier, but it also adds HTTP requests to the process of loading the page.

But you don’t have to use all the CSS files in DotNetNuke......

I updated some documentation and started a Skinning related codeplex project:
-Updates Skin Object Documentation.
-Codeplex project with 2 skin objects and an example skin (advanced skinning).
