The module Form and List will have a new release very soon. Currently a Release Candidate is available for you for final testing.

What is Form and List? The last release of Form and List happened more than 2 years ago, and, as the former core modules are no longer part of the distribution, it is time to introduce the module again.

Form and List evolved from a simple list module, called User Defined Table. A list is basically...

XML/XSL Module 04.03.05 is a maintenance release. Download is available from Codeplex. Changes were required to fix issues caused by conflicts with a new namespace in DotNetNuke 5.3. as the XML module did not use fully qualified namespaces everywhere.

Please upgrade to XML 4.3.5 before upgrading your DNN version to 5.3.1 and above. In case you missed this step and the entire application runs into a Yellow Screen of Death, the easiest workaround is to simply delete ~\App_Code\XML\Handlers\download.vb....

This is the second release for this year for Form and List, and it mostly a stabilization release. The import/ export of CSV files feature, which had been introduced in 5.1.1,, was not really ready for production and required an update. Also the new ability to set a CSS style to input boxes had been missed for the main data type text, which in. As requested by the Community, I also added reply-to and from fields for email notifications.

For your privacy, the content of Form and List modules are now excluded...

I am pleased to announce that XML 4.3.5, has now entered the release tracker; the same package is also available as Release Candidate on CodePlex. I also added an updated version of a module walk-through to the documentation section.

If you have currently the XML module installed, please upgrade the XML module first prior to upgrading the DotNetNuke core to 5.3.1 or later.

It was a long way to get here, but now I am very pleased to announce that Form and List was submitted to the release tracker. Form and List is the official successor of UserDefinedTable3.5.1, created for you by the UserDefinedTable project team.

The UserDefinedTable evolved over the last years, just as DotNetNuke. Starting as an elementary customizable table, UserDefinedTable turned into a feature rich list tool. UserDefinedTable now jumps over directly from DotNetNuke 3 and ASP.NET 1.1 to DotNetNuke...

Forms & Lists (UDT5) will be the successor of the UserDefinedTable module. The 2nd preview is now available as download. This preview requires DotNetNuke5.0 RC1.

If you are curious about the new capabilities, don't miss my presentation about Forms & Lists (UDT5.0) at OpenForce'08 Europe on Monday at 9:00 AM.

Nearly one year ago (exactly only one day is left) we released UserDefinedTable 3.4.0. The presentation of one new single enhancement  was assigned to me as the developer. Well, I never did. Now after even Core Team members detected the toy by accident, I can't wait to show up this little tool.

If you read my last blog [Token] based module templates and XSL compared, you might have asked yourself why I transformed the data into XML as the Announcement module doesn’t offer any XML feed beside the default RSS feed.

I needed a simple example, and a lot of users are already familiar with the Token based approach of the Announcement module.

In contrast, the User Defined Table (UDT) uses XSL-transformations for templating. I will repeat yesterday's example covering now the UDT module.

This blog introduces both [Token] based module layout templating and XSL Stylesheets.

You say goodbye
and I say hello hello hello

Say hello to the new Iframe 04.03.00 release, first release as a DNN4.x WSP module. It contains some bug fixes and  few enhancements, e.g. new AutoHeight feature.

Say goodbye to me as project team lead, I decided to retire from this mission.

DotNetNuke 4.6.0 is going to include a new Token Replace engine. It searches text for tokens, analyses them and replaces the tokens with their related framework values. The syntax is quite simple: [Object:Property]. For example the token [User:Lastname] will be replaced with the last name of the current user. You might already know this kind of notation; it is the same that has been already used for system messages inside the language pack.

XML 04.03.04 covers these issues:

XML-5464 Search is now independent from the current HttpContext - works now also using Scheduler A job called by scheduler doesn’t run in  any HttpContext  so an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." was raised. Side note: A lot of DotNetNuke objects and ASP.Net functions rely on HttpContext: e.g. objects like PortalSettings or mappath are not available during a scheduled task!

XML-5486 Change in util.vb to address assembly resolving issue Some...

I am very pleased to announce the first public release of the xml module since team reorganization.
By Stefan Cullmann on Fri, 12 Jan 2007 00:00:00 GMT
Last year was quite successful. Together with Sebastian we worked out some new releases of UDT. We added a lot of new features. The upcoming release was planned as a simple maintenance release, however it turned into an exciting point release again and I promise you that we keep on improving this module.

Last summer I was promoted as project lead for the XML module. As a result of my efforts, a  new release of the XML module has been entered to the Release Tracker last December. I am sure I will blog about its new features in short time. The new release is going to support query string parameters for XML Url access and Xsl parameters.

UserDefinedTable3.3.x has introduced XSL-Rendering. All the data and settings will be accessible via XML and you can use the power of XSL to present the data as you like.

The shown example is not about exciting HTML rendering but about data aggregation.

The DotnetNuke XML module is based on XML and XSL. XML module helps to connect DotNetNuke to the world. It is one of the 10 original modules which have been released as part of the IBuySpy portal. During the last years it has not passed much evolution though the world has not stopped turning.

My name is Stefan Cullmann, and I am the new team lead for the XML module. I am pleased to announce that the XML module is awaking from its eternal slumber...
