Overview

It looks like the DotNetNuke Review Program is off to a good start.  We have already reviewed over 20 modules and skins with a lot more on the way in the next couple of weeks.  The program has taken a little while to get off the ground, but we felt it was important that this not be a meaningless review, but that we were able to really spend some time with each module or skin and make sure that it met some basic requirements.  With each review that we perform, we get a little more skilled and are able to reduce the time it takes to get a module or skin through the process.  Our goal is to help each vendor who wants to get reviewed, to have their product get through the review.  This means we spend a little more time pointing out not just if a product meets the requirement, but also things that a vendor could do to improve their product so that it meets both the letter and the spirit of the guidelines.

Overall, I have been very impressed with the submissions we have received so far and I can tell that vendors really care about providing quality modules and skins to their customers.  If you are a customer and want to know if a module or skin has passed the review, you can look for the DotNetNuke Reviewed logos as shown here.  We have also opened up a new DotNetNuke Reviewed Directory to make it easier for you to tell if a product has passed the review.  Not only will this help customers to find quality products, it will also provide one more opportunity for Vendors to differentiate their product from their competitors and get a little bonus advertising on the DotNetNuke site.

So Vendors, if you haven't already submitted your module or skins, I would love to hear why not.  We really want this program to serve your needs.  So if there is something you feel we can do to improve the program please tell us.  And to all of you customers out there, if your favorite module or skin has not been reviewed ask your vendor about submitting their product for review.  Since the program is really aimed at making sure that there are a lot of quality modules to choose from, we are also interested in hearing from those people who are looking to buy modules and skins what we can do to help vendors raise the quality of their products.

While this current review process is aimed at setting some minimum guidelines, we anticipate that over the coming months we will add a couple of additional levels to really differentiate those products that truly shine in all areas.  Stay tuned for more information about these additional review programs.
