After recovering from an illness that ended up in a facial paralisis, I've been able to catch up with the project. I've had 4 rough months in every possible sense, luckily and thanks to the work of the team, specially Matthias, Gallery is closer to be released.

A new Private Beta will be packaged after the remaining bugs are cleared from the Backlog. Only two of those are major and there's a showstopper that's being researched by a Core Team member, since it seems to be cause by Friendly URLs and not Gallery itself. It manifests only in DNN 4.5+ versions. This query shows the remaining bugs (15 or so).

Matthias will recruit some people to start testing before we submit to the release tracker and we will perform a review of the team members at the end of this cycle. The goal is to be able to have a commited hard-working team that is available for forum support.

Re: Gallery coming closer to release

ummm this friendly urls bug wouldnt have anything to do with the changes in 4.7 to how spaces in the path are handled by the friendly url parser.

Spent some time on the past with other gallery translations having the same sort of issues.

Re: Gallery coming closer to release

Thank you for your work so far. I'm not a (.NET) developer - only a happy user. I came across DNN some years ago, but gave it up due to many and troublesome issues regarding installation and use - also a good gallery was missing at that time.

Since then DNN as well as skins and modules have matured quite significantly. And I'm very impressed about all the energy and distributed knowledge that surrounds this way of creating ideas and doing development (dedicated open source communities). This is the way to create and implement knowledge into technology.

I have DNN 4.8.2 up and running now with a skin from Nina. And both installation and initial use has been almost free from potential showstopping issues. After involving my webhost we solved the few errors that came up during installation (setting up modify rights+not trying to set trust level in web.config+moving dotnetnuke.config to application root).

I'm therefore looking very much forward to the gallery. It is about the only thing left that I really miss in my long and ongoing DNN addiction... :o)

Thank you again for your work and dedication. I wish I had the competencies to join you.

Re: Gallery coming closer to release

Thank you for your hard work! Please, give us some idea about next release date? Or next beta at least... I'm waiting this module for about 6 months or so and I'll be happy to participate in beta... ;-)

Regards,
CarGa.

Re: Gallery coming closer to release

Hi,
I appreciate your hard work, but can you indicate a release date? I should add 150 pictures to my site, and I don't want to do it one by one on a Text/HTML module.
If you need a tester want to help you.

Re: Gallery coming closer to release

Hello Gallery friends,

Can I get a copy of the beta module to play with? I'd only use it on a personal DNN site and I can handle a bug or two. I'm anxious to see the released version come out.

Regards,

Jim
