The FCKeditor is used extensively throughout DNN enabling Module and Page Editors and Administrators to create, format and manage content for modules such as the Text/HTML and Announcements module, as well as compose newsletters, notification messages and more. Whilst the standard layout and functionality of the FCKeditor (pictured below) will suit most needs, Administrators have the ability customize one or more instances of the FCKeditor.

Customizations include simple design changes such as changing the FCKeditor skin, and the skins applied to the insert image and insert Flash browsers. More advanced customizations enable Administrators to modify the font color (as shown below), styles, format and size of fonts included in toolbar lists - a great feature for controlling editors who like to over format text. The more advanced customizations include setting which toolbars are displayed to which security roles
For details on using these features see the latest version DNN Online Help or DNN User Manual Version 4.8+.

Re: Customizing Your FCKeditor
Hi Lorraine,
I thought I would mention my blog post about customizing the FCK Editor even further by adding custom smileys and changing the icon set - this may be of benefit to readers: http://www.smart-thinker.com/DNNBlog/tabid/1070/EntryID/35/Default.aspx

Re: Customizing Your FCKeditor
You know... This is a VERY overlooked feature set in the FCKeditor. I am very happy to see someone blogging about it. Thank you!
