It has been a long time since my last blog, so I want to apologize for that because many people wanted to know what happened with the FCKeditor provider Project, so here it is the status

I was waiting for some changes to be included in the core base class to allow many improvements to be added, but this could take a long time because of new DNN 5.x has not taken them in consideration yet. So I returned to do all the work by using hacks in the current provider structure.

There is a new version that is coming (03.00.01) with a lot of new features, but It was necessary to release a version that only fixes most current bugs in the code.

Version 02.00.01

  • Fixes ajax problems with updatepanel
  • Fixes some problems with the word Portal in the virtual folder name
  • Fixes some problems with the gallery
  • Compiled with asp.net 2x
  • Includes the latest 2.6.3 version of fckeditor

Note: A package was submitted to the release tracker, but there is a beta release available at:

http://dnn.tiendaboliviana.com/FckHtmlEditorProvider_02.00.01_Beta.zip

(Uncompress it and follow the instructions in the .txt file - Only DNN 4.x)

Please don’t use it at production until an official release is made by the release process

The upcoming 03.00.01 will contain:

  • New gallery system totally redesigned to include views (like windows explorer), paging and optional thumbs
  • New CSS styles management
  • New settings management including options for including every FCKeditor property and to customizing them at different levels (System, Host, Portal, Page, Module, Instance, user) depending of the current language and roles
  • New toolbar editor to allow semi-visual toolbar customization
  • Folder mount points will allow administrators to mount virtual folders in a gallery view. So common repositories can be shared while normal folders are still used
  • Templated paths is galleries will help to customize storage paths per portal or user (i.e. /myimages/[UserId]/Images)

Hope this is what you were waiting for

Regards

Re: FckHtmlEditorProvider 02.00.01_Beta and 03.00.01

2 words x2. You rock Thank you.

Glad to see the fck getting some much needed lovin. With your proposed 3.0.1 release I believe I will be switching back to fck. I personally always prefered it, but boss seemed to like the more flashy Rad Editor even though its such a beast to work with on customization part. Can't wait till 3.0 comes out. Thanks for the work on this. :)

Re: FckHtmlEditorProvider 02.00.01_Beta and 03.00.01

Greate, soon a new Version of the Provider! Do you see any chance for a "template manager" or a solution to use the "template manager plugin" which is available for the FCK-Editor? This would be a greate feature.

Re: FckHtmlEditorProvider 02.00.01_Beta and 03.00.01

Does this release fix the annoying bug of inserting unwanted p tags??

If so, which release, 2.00.01 or 3.00.01, will contain this bug fix??

Please see the forum for more comments on this topic.

It would be nice for it to be easier to customize what styles people can see and use within the editor.

Thank you, Tom

Fantastic to see this out Mauricio. Everything you do on this is greatly appreciated. In my view this is one of the most important parts of DNN and so hopefully things will change in the core to suit your exciting future plans for it. Thanks for putting out the update in the meantime!

Re: FckHtmlEditorProvider 02.00.01_Beta and 03.00.01

sschneider: A template manager was an option but it was not selected by the priority

Re: FckHtmlEditorProvider 02.00.01_Beta and 03.00.01

tlyczko: The P behavior is normal and it is by design, if you don't want to use the correct behavior for editing content, then you can change the behavior in the configuration. See the forums for that.

The download link for the beta version at http://dnn.tiendaboliviana.com/FckHtmlEditorProvider_02.00.01_Beta.zip does not seem to work anymore. Is there anywhere else it can be download from?

Would you please update us about the current status of this project and thanks for all your work!

Are you waiting until the official release of DNN 5 to skip over the official release of your v2 beta and go straight to an official release of your much anticipated v3?
