Hello folks! Yep, it has been a while since I’ve blogged around here, but rest assured, despite this silence a lot of work has been done on the blog module behind the scenes. Our original plans for the Blog module was to make a really big release, pack it full of new features and bug fixes, and publish it as version 04.00.00. This plan turned out to be more ambitious than we thought. By the time we realized the scope of our grandiose plan and matched it against the realistic time and effort that the team could actually dedicate to it we realized that it would probably be to long before a release is published; much longer than you would have been pleased with, believe me. The result of this reality-check is a compromise, and this compromise is version 03.05.02. As you can see from our Roadmap, although we scaled down our ambitions, we’re still planning to include features that will certainly be welcome additions to the current functionality, and ones that have been selected as the most requested by our community of users. Some features that I am particularly pleased to announce are: - Project code-base upgrade to .NET Framework 3.5
- Performance Improvements through data caching
- Twitter integration
- New module: Latest Blog Posts (Templatable)
- New module: Latest Comments (Templatable)
- Categories & Tags + New Tag Cloud Module
I am just as eager to make this new release as you are to download it; I can assure you that we are doing our best to make that happen.

Re: DotNetNuke Blog Module Roadmap
Funny, I was just going through your 03.05.01 codebase to see where I'd stick a couple of enhancements. Looking forward to the update. Let me know if I can help.

Re: DotNetNuke Blog Module Roadmap
Is there a fix for the RSS issue where the images don't show up in the RSS feed for Feedburner?
For example ... feeds.feedburner.com/silvamoose/rants
That would be a neato thing. I am looking forward to the categories. WOO HOO!!
Thanks for all the work you do. The blog is quickly become quite an awesome module.

Re: DotNetNuke Blog Module Roadmap
I use the DNN Core Blog module on all my sites. Works great. So as a "Loyal User" I want to put my vote in for "Tag Cloud" :)

Re: DotNetNuke Blog Module Roadmap
Very exciting to hear about the tags. I'd also vote for the ability to use a custom slug for the url instead of only having the ability to use the post title. I'm guessing the way DNN breaks URLs into /key/value/key/value, doing a WP-like url scheme /year/mo/day/slug wouldn't really be doable...

Re: DotNetNuke Blog Module Roadmap
Dear Antonio, current version drops a redirect loop error with the latest (5.1) DNN distribution. I am not sure whether this feature is known by the developer team or not, but it would be great if the team could handle this issue. Best Regards Attila

Re: DotNetNuke Blog Module Roadmap
Love the Blog Module. Highly useful and great work so thanks. Major error issues though with 3.5.1 on DNN 5.1.2. Fatals out due to something related to skin container and CSS issues and definitely started with DNN5. Fix listed on forum really does not solve scenario. Someone put in the stack trace on a blog forum listing dated 10/2/2009. I have tried everything to get around it but not working. If theres something that is a partial fix coming in a very soon release would be great. Have looked all over the web and what is being listed as the fix doesnt work with SolPartActions.

Re: DotNetNuke Blog Module Roadmap
I, too, love the blog module and have used it on our current website or an earlier version for almost two years. I also second the need for an immediate fix.
This week I received a notice from our hosting provider that DotNetNuke Corporation announced that version 4.x had reached it's end-of-life. They stated that DNN is no longer providing any support or patches for the 4.x product line. Further, after Nov. 15, 2009, our hosting provider said they would no longer provide any assistance on a pre-4.9.5 website without incurring significant support charges.
So, we finally upgraded to DNN version 5.1.4 this wekeend. And, now we are seeing exception errors on our blog page and our home page which lists the most recent blogs.
And I'm reading here that the core blog module will not work in the DNN upgrade we have been required to complete.
Blogs are a critical component of our news site. Since nobody seems to have a timeframe for when a 5.x compatible version of the core blog module will be available, can anyone recommend a third-party module that will also enable us to import the current blogs?

Re: DotNetNuke Blog Module Roadmap
Just upgraded to latest DNN 5 SW - should I not bother to add the blog module - many on this string have indicated that it won't work in DNN 5?
