Now that we are a week into 2010, I think the time is right to share one of my more serious New Years Resolutions for the coming year. Reflecting upon 2009, I can point to many areas where I was instrumental in helping chart an exciting new course for the DotNetNuke project, but the one area where I believe I fell significantly short is in regards to community participation.
In past years I was far more active in community channels such as the Forums and Blogs and I personally believe this increased level of transparency was instrumental in stimulating the overall health and momentum of the project. Therefore in 2010 I resolve to increase my community activity and become much more vocal on a wide variety of topics which affect the DotNetNuke ecosystem.
To begin with, I promise to share more regular insight into the product roadmap, development progress, stabilization efforts, etc... I also anticipate becoming much more vocal on issues affecting the software industry; whether they are technical, business, or philosophical in nature. In addition I plan to share "DotNetNuke Sightings" on a regular basis ( notable public sites which are using DotNetNuke as their web platform - please feel free to send me your suggestions ).
So what better way to kick off the New Year than to highlight that the world's tallest skyscraper is using DotNetNuke! The Burj Dubai tower ( renamed to Burj Khalifa at the opening ceremonies in honor of Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ruler of Abu Dhabi ) is over 800 metres high ( 2625 feet ) and more than 160 stories. Besides holding the distinction as the world's tallest building it also set a number of other significant world records including being the tallest structure ( formerly held by the KVLY-TV mast in Blanchard, North Dakota ) as well as being the tallest free-standing structure in the world ( formerly held by the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada ). The project was initiated on September 21, 2004 and officially opened its doors to the public on January 4th this week.

It is way cool that the tower is using DNN, I bet they are getting a lot of hits from all over the world. The only sad part is that they decided to use that huge Flash slide show on the front page, when you get to the site from the other side of the planet it takes a while to load, some may get the incorrect impression that DNN is slow because of it. Otherwise it is a great case study site.

I agree Carlos! We continue to help educate folks on ASP.Net, IIS, VS and many general web, technology and business issues. My friends at f5 I'm sure would be happy to help them with global content delivery. No matter what framework you use, your site has to be published web friendly around the globe!

Another great milestone of DNN! I believe the tower itself already attracted a lot of visitors around the globe. Yet, there's still space to be improved.
