I am happy to announce the release of DotNetNuke 5.4.1 which corrects the major issues which slipped through the QA process for 5.4. While we try to do a good job in testing our releases, our recent efforts for 5.3 and 5.4 have fallen short of the mark. We are currently working with a small team of commercial module developers and the core team to put a better public beta testing process in place that will help augment our own internal testing. Ultimately, community testing is the only testing that truly scales, and we have struggled with how to effectively use the community even while keeping to a tight release schedule. While this is not as critical for our stabilization releases where we seem to have no difficulty achieving an acceptable level of quality, it is absolutely essential that we have community feedback and testing of our quarterly feature releases. As usual, you can see the full list of changes for this release on the changelog.
Major Highlights
- Fixed issue with assembly version type.

Re: DotNetNuke 5.4.1 Released
Helo Joe!
Creating a new Website based on a template file from version 5.4.0 DotNetNuke.vstemplate generates many files error: The file xxxxx could not be found within the project templates. Continuing to run, but the resulting project may not build properly. :(
File DotNetNuke.vstemplate for the last three versions: [5.3.1 -> size 193 033, 25 March 2010] [5.4.0 -> size 226 270 5 November 2009] [5.4.1 -> size 226 270 5 November 2009]
Compiling project fails: Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.Web' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. x:\DnnDev541\Website\admin\Modules\modulesettings.ascx 8

While I have a lot more testing to perform on this release - I would say thank you to the team for the prompt release of 5.4.1.

Re: DotNetNuke 5.4.1 Released
5.4.1 has past our testing for both new installs and upgrades and we have rolled it out to production today. All issues that we had been finding from 5.3.x to 5.4.0 have been resolved.
Very pleased with the prompt resolve from DNN Corp and the Teams involved.

Re: DotNetNuke 5.4.1 Released
Great release guys my upgrade problems in 5.4.0 are all sorted with this release just copied the new files in and the upgrade worked perfectly on all my sites. Nice work. Also if you need testers Please contact me I work with a company called Palatine Webpartners www.palatinewebpartners.com and I am converting all there sites into DNN sites and we have our own server to test on if you need any help.
Thanks again Paul

Re: DotNetNuke 5.4.1 Released
@SzymonSi & Joe
Joe, I'm having the same error with the VS starter-kit. In fact, I haven't been able to use any of the starter-kits after DNN 5.2.2 - all of them throw out errors saying files are missing, etc, etc...
Also, has anyone done testing for the kits in VS2010..?

Re: DotNetNuke 5.4.1 Released
My first Post here, good morning,
Used AutoUpgrade to go beautifully from 5.2.3 to 5.4.1 in no time at all. Also upgraded modules with just one hitch. Blog 3.5.1 was giving an error when added to a page in 5.2.3 so upgraded to Blog 4.0 after the 5.4.1 upgrade, but same error occurring. Researching this now, found this post, thought I would say hi.
Regards, Rod
