It has been one week since I posted the Forum 4.6 Beta and a few issues have been brought to my attention (Thanks Matthias!). Well, in the Beta 2 I have addressed those issues that I verified and a few others. We also installed this very same version on www.dotnetnuke.com (this site) just before I posted the Beta 2 download (which means I consider it safe for production use). While I feel it is safe for production use, I really would like to get some more feedback based on this Beta 2 version prior to submission to the core module release process (because I test only a few set of configuration options). My plan is to take the feedback over the course of a 2-3 week period and then create an RC release afterwards (which will likely be submitted to the core module release process). If you download and test, please feel free to submit all issues related to the beta 2 here.

As per usual, please test the install in a stage/test environment first and do testing in addition do full backups prior to installation. If you wish to download the beta 2, you can do so here. As an FYI, there are no data changes since the previous release.

Changes since previous beta:

  • Blue theme set as default theme for new installs.
  • 2 CSS issues corrected (previously had invalid markup)
  • Fixed issue where CSS file not loading in IE when an Ajax postback occurred.
  • Fixed issue where IP Address was set to “0.0.0.0” when a quick reply post was added.
  • Fixed issue where moderator edit pencil was not displayed in all forums for all moderators (but properly for forum admin/module admin/site admin).
  • Reduced number of tables used in User Interface for Group, Thread, Post, Search views.
  • Removed icon bar image option (in Forum Admin –> User Interface) and associated images (meaning it will always be just text/button links).
