The
Networking Event which takes place each year at the DotNetNuke conference in Las Vegas always seems to be a highlight for many. Kristian Ranstrom, who is presenting a session during
DotNetNuke Connections ‘10 agrees, telling us that he always enjoys the evening of socializing and that “getting everyone together is great.” In this edition of our speaker Q&A series, you can learn more about Kristian – and if you’re attending the conference, you will likely have your opportunity to meet him at this year’s

Q. Why are you looking forward to DotNetNuke Connections '10?
A. I'm looking forward to it for multiple reasons. I really enjoy mingling with other DotNetNuke professionals. The networking aspect gives me the opportunity to reach out and talk to module creators and talk face to face about my needs. I also am happy to be speaking.
Q. What other conferences have you attended this year? What makes DevConnections different?
A. DevConnections Spring (a.k.a MS Visual Studio 2010 launch event) in April 2010 and www.nabshow.com (National Association of Broadcasters). DevConnections is great for me, personally, because I can learn great things in any of the tracks, whether it's DotNetNuke or SQL, asp.net, Silverlight, etc. I also get a chance to talk with other developers and speakers and vendors whom I potentially will do business with and it's a nice venue to have those conversations..
Q. Why should people consider attending your session?
A. My talk is a very practical and information-rich session. I think everyone who attends will be able to pick up on at least a few new things that they'll be able to put into practice immediately following the conference. Performance is a topic that everyone is interested in, but not many people have the skills or the time to proficient in it. It affects small sites all the way to huge enterprise-level applications. I'm basically going to be talking about every aspect of website performance at varied levels, especially focusing in on the more complex items.
Q. When you’re not presenting, which sessions at DotNetNuke Connections are you most interested in attending?
A. MVP-Style Module Development with Charles Nurse; How to Localize Your DotNetNuke Site with Cathal Connolly; Building Friendly URLs Into DotNetNuke Modules with Bruce Chapman; and Profiling your DotNetNuke Module for Maximum Performance with Keivan Beigi.
Q. Any sessions in the concurrent tracks at DevConnections you're particularly interested in attending? Other speakers or personalities you're eager to meet?
A. A couple speakers -- Kim Tripp, and Paul Randall for SQL Performance and Tuning.
Q. Any specific sights, shows, or events that you plan to make time for while in Las Vegas this fall?
A. Ka, a Cirque du Soleil show would be nice to see.
Q. How long have you been part of the DotNetNuke community?
A. 3-4 years.
Q. What is one thing you wished everyone knew about DotNetNuke?
A. It takes away ~80% of the development of building a complex website.

Q. What is the first computer you ever owned?
A. My first computer was some IBM-compatible 286 processor paper-weight which ran windows 2.1. It's where I started to learn DOS. I was hooked.
