Coming up in less than a week Joe Brinkman (technical fellow) and myself will be presenting at the fifth annual St. Louis Day of .NET in St. Charles, Missouri. www.stldodn.com

This will be my fourth year presenting there, and I believe Joe’s second time. We will be covering a variety of DotNetNuke topics, including a DotNetNuke Jumpstart session which is the perfect way to learn about the platform if you are new. Here are the topics that we will be presenting, along with the currently scheduled time for them (times subject to change, visit www.stldodn.com for up to date times).

Session: DotNetNuke Jumpstart
Speaker: Chris Hammond
Room: Insight
Time: Friday 9:20a-10:20a
Description: Before attending any of the other DotNetNuke sessions, check out the basics of the DNN platform, the largest open source project in the Microsoft ecosystem. You'll walk away with an understanding of the basics of the DNN CMS, and how you can start to use it to build websites with custom functionality and content.

Session: Knockout.js, MVC and DotNetNuke
Speaker: Chris Hammond
Room: Vision
Time: Saturday 9:10a-10:10a
Description: With DotNetNuke 6.2 lots of changes have taken place with what you can do with the DNN platform. This session will show you how you can use MVC within your development, and connect that to a module in DNN to display your data in a variety of flexible formats. Come hungry for learning how to do the advanced things that people have complained can't be done in DotNetNuke

Session: Running DotNetNuke on Windows Azure
Speaker: Joe Brinkman
Room: Discovery D
Time: Saturday 10:20a-11:20a
Description: Windows Azure is starting to pick up steam.   With recent additions to the Azure stack, it is becoming easier and easier to deploy DotNetNuke in the cloud.  In this session we’ll look at how to deploy DotNetNuke on Windows Azure.  I’ll go over some of the challenges and discuss how to overcome them.  We’ll also discuss some of the new changes to Windows Azure which were announced in May and how they will further improve your ability to run DotNetNuke on Windows Azure.

Session: Building Single Page Applications with DotNetNuke
Speaker: Joe Brinkman
Room: Discovery B
Time: Saturday 1:40p-2:40p
Description: A major shift is taking place in the web development world. More and more web applications are being built as “Single Page Applications”. This development model focuses on using JavaScript frameworks, AJAX and web services to build highly interactive web applications which don’t rely on the traditional postback model associated with WebForms development. Even Microsoft is joining the party by including a SPA project template in MVC 4. In this session I’ll go over some of the tools we use in DotNetNuke 6.2 to enable you to develop your modules using this approach and we’ll look at where this development model is appropriate and where the traditional postback model is more applicable. To wrap up the session I’ll build a simple module which demonstrates how you can use this new development approach when building your next module.
