Cathal:

Some time ago I asked in the forum for a document with a DNN Security Best Practices and Recommendations/Checklist/Security Step by Step. I think that at the time you said that an "Official" DNN Security Guide (or something like that) was in the works. I think that a document like this is really needed for DNN in general.

As a reminder, I'm talking about all the setup security elements to harden the installation, not just the necessary steps to get it to work. This should include all the IIS, ASP.Net, and Windows Server parameters to make sure that the DNN security is as tight as possible. And like I have said before to the other members of the forum, please do not refer me to the ASP.Net guides at the MSDN site, I have seen those, we need something specific for DNN.

By the way, if you need to minimize the impact to the workload and just do a security guide for Win2003, IIS6, ASP.Net 2.0 only that is fine.

And as usual, thank you for the great work you do.

Carlos

Carlos, I've created those 2 docs, and had them reviewed and am most of the way through adding the required edits. At the moment I'm working on a clients site and don't have access to my home machine, so it's going to be a while before I can finish them, but they are coming.

I do not plan on adding advice on locking down sql and IIS as there are so many permutations that the doc's would be massive. Instead I have added links in the documents to some of the Microsoft prescriptive guidelines that talk you through the steps.

Cathal
