I forgot that you used the SQL server with named instance, so the correct Connection string must be:

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005/2008 -->

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=localhost\SQLExpress;Database=myDotnetnuke;uid=mycms;pwd=dotnetnuke;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Hope this fixed your issue, and don't forget the 2nd connection string!

I did the same and changed the connection string in Web.config.

Again filed :

Installing Database - Version 06.00.00...FAILURE ERROR: See D:\\dotnetnuke\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\06.00.00.log.resources for more information

I even changed the appSettings in my next attempt and changed the "SiteSqlServer" key to :

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=localhost\SQLExpress;Initial Catalog=myDotnetnuke;User ID=mycms;Password=dotnetnuke" />

but again same error. I changed the localhost to my computer name and again same error :(

I have never felt so much miserable when installing a new software/app before this.. Digging the whole internet cannot find why this happen at all!

Had you recreate your database ?  After a failed install you have to delete trhe existing database and recreate it, about it could be that any Creation already done, and so the new install could not be run.

Please post the content of the D:\dotnetnuke\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\06.00.00.log  file if it isn't empty.

Be sure the iUser have execute and read permissions and the Application pool user have full access to your DotNetNuke folder and the permissions are inherit to all files and subfolders!

 I do create new database every time it fails and assign the user with db_owner to that.

The error log does not even created on the path that has been shown!

I have given modify access to IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool on my dotnetnuke folder as it was shown in installation video. I also did add IUSR and gave all the permission you told.

Still same problem and it shows the above error. I am about to give up this..it is now 4 days I am doing this task

Please make sure, you did enable TCP/IP protocol for both, SQL Server and Client. If SQL Server is on a different machine, it needs to have remote access be enabled during install as well.
