I've got this problem on localhost on my development machine. It's weird, I was trying to fix it all day yesterday to no avail. Then out of the blue before the day was up it started working for no reason. Now it's doing the same thing again. What's going on here? A few times it went to the install/underconstruction page but usually it just says "An unhandled error has occured."

Now, I have a SQL find and replace code tha tI use to change the urls in the database on the fly instead of one by one. The site didn't work after doing this so I'm tempted to think this caused it but somehow I don't think so, unless it's a DNN cahing issue. Uhhhg.

I originally had this site installed as version 4.4.1, then upgraded to 4.5.4. And again I believe this site was upgraded to 4.5.5 (if I could get in to check it I would). We had some computer problems, backed up the database and files and wiped the machine, reinstalling XP and all the software, SQL & VS 2005. Now the thing won't work. I made sure the machinekey was right in the web.config (if that matters), the connection string works, the directory has ASPNET and NETWORK SERVICE permissions, the database has the user, I'm stumped and my boss is getting pissed. Please help!

Sounds to me like the infamous DNN Caching Beast. Try recycling your app pool on your server or in your hosting control panel (if they give you that option). Otherwise try waiting until tomorrow so that the app pool recycles itself. I encountered this problem many times on fresh installs of DNN and only found out what the problem was the next day. Fun huh?

Also, have you entered the proper alias into your portal settings? If you can't access the site to find out try going into the alias database table and add it in there. Good luck!
