Hi guys... I just wanted to follow up on this since Dynamic Registration was mentioned several times in the thread. We have recently updated Dynamic Registration to now force the user to have a default language. Previouslly you could specify which field represented the langauge so to get around this you could setup a hidden field for example to be 'en-US' or you could actually give the user the dropdownlist to select the langauge. If neither of these options was setup though it will now (after the patch we are releasing today) automatically default the preferred language to the portals preferred language. You can contact us directly if you pruchased from the Marketplace or you should find this under Patches and Hot Fixes on Snowcovered.

Eric also posted the SQL Scripts for fixing this issue and forcing all users to have a preferred language in this thread here:

Thanks,

Chad

Chad,

Is this also happening with your Interactive User Import product?  I'm getting the same errors and have used that tool to import users.  I'll try the sql scripts to see if that fixes it and will report back.

Hi guys... I just wanted to post an update here. We have found that this is happening with Interactive User Import as well, basically if you don't choose a timezone field and a language field DNN (depending on the version) might throw an error message when adding to add the user to a security role because it can't send the message to the user. We have been able to duplicate this, so for now (until we get a patch that will default these) you should setup a field to represent the language and a field to represent the time zone.

Here are some notes from a customer...

"Setting timezone to -480 and locale to ‘en-US’ (no quotes).  I had to put a delimiter after the locale because your import was adding another space at the end which DNN did not like.  Once I surrounded it with delimiters, it worked.  "

We will review this and determine the best approach for a fix, more then likey defaulting it to the current portal language/timezone. For now another option is to also run the SQL queries mentioned in this thread to set all users language and time zone after the import.
