After upgrading 3 portals to 4.8 they all have the same scheduler problems. The first thing what is strange is that all the ‘Next Start’ times are the same and have the system time. If I refresh the page all the tasks get new times (again the system time).
The next problem is that when a task takes long , in my case BackupNative 8 min. it repeats itself after finishing the last task. Changing the ‘retry time laps’ from 1 hour to 10 or nothing doesn’t change anything. So the task is constantly running.
Any suggestions are welcome.

I too am seeing Schedule problems in DNN 4.8 with BackupNative. There is only one task scheduled to run "Every 1 Day", however, the Schedule History shows that it has run 6 times in the past few hours. The reason this is so apparent is because I've asked BackupNative to email me when the backup completes.

I have been emailing the developer of BackupNative and he encouraged me to look for other tasks that are running too frequently but may go unnoticed (because they don't send email or have other visible side-effects). Here's what I found (at 1:38 PM on 1/24/2008):

Task

Frequency

History Entries

PurgeScheduleHistory

Every 1 Day

39 since 1/22/2008

SearchEngineScheduler

Every 30 Minutes

60 since 1/22/2008

BackupNative

Every 1 Day

10 since 1/24/2008

It certainly seems that PurgeScheduleHistory is running too often as well, so I don't suspect that this problem is specific to BackupNative.

I'm having the same problems, to stop the thrashing I set the Host Scheduler Mode to Request Method rather than Timer Method.

I am also having a similar problem. If I set the Scheduler Mode to Timer Method my site completely stops responding. To fix it I have to put it back to Request Method. The problem is I need Timer Mode to support the Active Forum module. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thank you for starting this post. At first i suspected BackupScript module, but after visiting here i am too having suspects about Schedule event.

It emails me a lot, about backups. And it has a lot of (unwanted) progress in specific section.
