I'm trying to setup a DNN instance on godaddy in a virtual directory. I've gone through all the steps and have the domain pointing at the virtual directory.

I've added all the permutations of alias

siitename.com/dotnetnuke
siitename.com
www.siitename.com/dotnetnuke

www.siitename.com

The site works just fine if I don't do anything but it still includes the virtual directory. Which I know is fixed by going into the web.config and adding "dotnetnuke/" "to the hostheaders appseting I've also tried this without the slash... But when I do this all I get are 404 messages for all of the pages.  Like I can navigate to the root just fine with sitename.com  but then when I click on any of the links in the SOLPARTMENU I get a 404 error and it says

/dotnetnuke/Home.aspx not found

Any ideas?
I have the latest version of DNN installed as well

GoDaddy does not allow you to alias correctly in DNN.  The best solution here is to watch and follow this video on DNNHERo.com it's free and easy access:

  http://www.dnnhero.com/Videos/tabid/59/EntryId/243/Godaddy-and-DotNetNuke-Run-it-from-the-root-part-1-of-2-Video-223.aspx

There is also part 2! I moved my site from /dotnetnuke to the root with no problems, other than the ones i had already created myself! Make sure you  have a backup and use filezilla for the ftp.

Good luck,

Mike

Shane,

The portal alias that I'm using (which is working on my hosting provider) is www.devodog.us/dnn

No change was made to web.config

Portal Alias mapping mode is set to None.

Yea I don't want to run DNN from the root I want it in a subdirectory and I don't want to have a /DNN/ on there

I've done this on my virtual server through cbeyond and locally find but for some reason on godaddy it complains :-/

I like having DNN in its own contained directory when hosting places like godaddy it makes containment a lot simpler and things like backing up and upgrading simpler since it's not mixed with the data files
